No Belonging.
The work combines the structure of a photograph as an object with the abstraction from a denaturing effect. I have collaborated with other artists and the public by using their film negatives as a source of material. I then manipulate the already processed negatives with chemicals to produce new representations of the image that was first snapped.
By working with unfamiliar imagery and genres, both I and the original owner become pleasantly surprised by the various experiments. Due to the chemical process the images suggest a chaotic movement made by chance. Randomness combined with chance is a factor in method controlled by varied time periods in which the negatives are submerged.
